Wir verbringen die ersten Tage mit Auto polieren, Anzeigen schreiben und verteilen. Unsere Gastgeber Dave und Blake, die wir in Indonesien kennen gelernt haben, stellen uns ein 1A Gästezimmer zur Verfügung….. so mit dem Motto „bleibt so lange wie es euch taugt“. Da sie meistens beim arbeiten sind, sehen wir die zwei jedoch nur selten. In der Zeit die wir gemeinsam verbringen ist die Aufregung für den bevorstehenden Volkslauf „city to surf“ deutlich spürbar. Am drauf folgenden Wochenende ist es dann so weit und die zwei treten ihren 12km Lauf an. Nach  dem abgeschlossenen Lauf ist Barbecue angesagt, ein paar ihrer Freunde schliessen sich an. Anscheinend gehört so ein fetter Grill zum Inventar eines jeden australischen Haushaltes. Die Würstel sind auf jeden Fall sehr gut gelungen. Für etwas Aufregung sorgt dann das von einer Sekunde zur anderen verschwundenes Handy vom Matt. Wenige Minuten später wird ein verstopftes Klo festgestellt. Ob da ein Zusammenhang besteht? Wir wissen es bis Heute nicht, das Handy ist auf jeden Fall nie mehr aufgetaucht und das Klo ist jetzt chronisch verstopft. Gelacht haben wir jede Menge… sorry Matt.

Nach mehr als einer Woche ohne einen einzigen Anruf auf unsere Anzeigen verlieren wir langsam die Geduld. Wir entscheiden uns den bevorstehenden Flug nicht mehr zu verschieben und in drei Tagen ab zu reisen. Und wie das Schicksal so spielt, nach dieser Entscheidung läuft alles wie am Schnürchen. Am gleichen Abend kriegen wir noch einen Anruf von Marilyn und Nicolas, wie sich später raus stellt, Sam’s neue Eltern. Ein Tag später kriegen wir eine Email die uns in Euphorie versetzt. Unsere Anfrage mit an Board eines Segelschiffes in den Fiji’s zu steigen trifft auf positives Interesse. Wenige Tage später ist schon alles geregelt. Fiji – wir kommen…. 😉

Wie immer schaffen wir alles noch in letzer Sekunde, Auto überschreiben, Versicherungen kündigen usw. Zum Glück wurde auch unsere letzte Verkaufbedingung angenommen und wir werden von Sam zum Flughafen chauffiert. Viel Glück mit den neuen Eltern, Sam – sie scheinen ganz cool zu sein.

Dave und Blake, euere Gastfreundschaft war überwältigend, ihr seid, wo immer wir Wohnen jederzeit willkommen.

The first few days are spend with polishing Sam, writing adds and sticking them on each backpacker notice board around Perth. Our hosts Dave and Blake invited us to come and stay with them when we met in Indonesia. We move into their guest room and we’re welcome to stay as long as we like. Though they spend the most time at work we don’t get to see them to often. Since weeks both of them where preparing for the comming „city to surf“ run and the excitement for the race was very present. We didn’t get much of the event but the barbecue that took place in their yard afterwards was very nice. Some of their friends joined us and we had relaxed afternoon. As we get to learn, the big barbie is an essential in every Australian household. Anyhow, the sausages where great!!!! Although the highlight of the day is Matt’s phone disappearing. He had his phone in the pocket of the jacket and from one moment to the other it disappeared. All the searching without success. Little later the toilet is stuck. There might be a coherency, we’ll never know. The phone isn’t found yet and the toilet may still be stuck??? We all had a good laugh… 😉 sorry Matt.

After more than a week without any reply on our van adds we loose patience. We decide not to pospone our flight again and to take the plane to Sydney in three days, whatever comes. As fate plays, after this decision everything turn out to be perfect. The same evening we get a phone call from Marilyn and Nicolas, which turn out to be the new parents of Sam. One day later we get an email which puts us in euphoria. Our inquiry to jump on a sailing boat on the fiji’s is answered prompt and positive. Few days later everything is organized, flight to fiji’s, semptember 11th. Fiji, we’re comming… 😉

Like always we just make everything in the last secound. Doing the paperwork for the car sale, canceling insurances and so on… Fortunately our french friends accepted our last police and we are driven by Sam to the airport. Good luck with your new parents – Sam, they seem to be quite cool.

Dave and Blake, you guys where awsome hosts and whenever you decide to visit us and wherever that is, you’ll always be welcome.
